Session 2 (October 4): Guiding doctoral candidates in structuring and packaging business models, identifying practical gaps as a foundation to illuminate theoretical gaps, and aligning with appropriate theoretical lenses to integrate and develop a coherent conceptual model.

Session 2 of the Doctoral Research Training (October 4)
Today, I had the pleasure of guiding our DBA candidates through an intensive and insightful second session of the training course. We focused on some of the most critical steps in building a strong research foundation:
+ Structuring and Packaging Business Models – helping candidates understand how to translate practical practices into clear, researchable components.
+ Identifying Practical Gaps – exploring real-world issues and challenges that often go unnoticed in theory, and using these gaps as the starting point for deeper inquiry.
+ Bridging Practical Gaps to Theoretical Gaps – demonstrating how practical insights can highlight missing links or overlooked areas in existing literature, thereby strengthening the theoretical contribution of their research.
+ Aligning with Theoretical Lenses to Integrate a Conceptual Model – guiding candidates on how to choose and apply the right theoretical frameworks to link their research variables and develop a robust conceptual model.
The session was marked by active discussions, thoughtful questions, and valuable peer learning. I’m inspired by the dedication and curiosity of the candidates as they transform practice-based challenges into impactful research contributions.
Looking forward to seeing their conceptual models evolve further and contribute meaningfully to both academia and practice!
